I've been drawing octopuses for years. For me they're the perfect example of alien intelligence on this planet: three hearts, blue blood (copper instead of iron), neurons distributed in every arm. They can change color and texture in less than a second, solve puzzles, open jars. This composition brings them together in impossible symmetry — four tentacles per animal, four animals in mirror pose. Design that only works because traditional illustration allows perfect symmetry where photography can't.
