Description
ANGUILA (Eel): the long, electric, slippery creature. Half fish, half snake, all bewilderment.
The eel is one of those animals science still doesn't fully understand. Its life cycle was a mystery until the 20th century, when it was discovered that European eels migrate thousands of kilometers to end up in the Sargasso Sea to breed and die. Aristotle thought eels were born from mud because no one had ever seen an egg. Freud (yes, Freud) wrote his doctoral thesis on eel testicles — spent four weeks dissecting 400 specimens in Trieste and never found any.
