Description
"Frankenstein" the latest in this series of t-shirts. Inspired by the 1931 film, 91 years after its release. The ink is fluorescent orange. This would be the fourth t-shirt in the monster pack! And with Frankenstein, the cycle of classic monsters closes. Boris Karloff gave a soul to a character who didn't have one in the script. Those sad eyes under the flat forehead, those extended arms seeking connection with a world that only fears him — Karloff turned the Creature into the most human character in horror cinema. My Frankenstein is not sad. He has overcome the trauma of rejection and is now angry. He has the bolts, he has the stitches, he has the flat forehead — but with an attitude that says "they made me with dead parts and yet I'm more alive than most." It's the evolution of the monster: from victim to owner of his own narrative. The fluorescent orange ink was a risky but necessary decision. I wanted Frankenstein to look different from the other monsters in the series, to have his own chromatic identity. And the fluorescent orange gives him that radioactive energy that connects with the tradition of 1950s science fiction films where everything glowed in impossible colors. Orange is the color of warning signs and that's exactly what Frankenstein is — a warning about the limits of science, about playing God, about creating something you can't control. The fourth t-shirt of the monster pack closes with the most iconic of all. 100% Cotton T-shirt Made with 1-color screen printing.
