The background texture simulates the \u003cem\u003edolly zoom\u003c\/em\u003e effect Hitchcock invented for this film — the image where the background pulls away while the character stays still. A visual device later used by \u003cem\u003eJaws\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eGoodfellas\u003c\/em\u003e, and a thousand other films.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePart of the \u003cstrong\u003eVERTIGO collection\u003c\/strong\u003e alongside the Kim Novak design.
